FIRE GROWTH RATE

The fire grows geometrically. Therefore, those at the scene and those who will respond to the fire must act very quickly.

Especially if there are easily flammable materials in the environment that will cause the fire to grow faster, and if there is wind in open fires, this process develops much faster and more effectively.

  • In fires in closed areas, the average heat value increases rapidly after the first minute. The temperature reaches 550 degrees after 5 minutes and the flames completely cover the environment.
  • A fire that can be extinguished with a glass of water at the beginning can only be extinguished with a bucket of water in the second minute, or with a barrel of water in the third minute.
  • The temperature at the fire site rises very quickly. After 5 minutes from the start, temperatures reach 550 degrees, after 15 minutes 720 degrees, after 60 minutes 920 degrees. The ambient temperature rises in direct proportion to time.
